Rocamadour

Rocamadour is a tiny village with a worldwide reputation! Built in successive levels on the side of a cliff, it hangs 120 metres above a canyon. Its houses, roofs and churches seem to be part of the rock. Rocamadour was already admired in the Middle Ages. In the 12th century, pilgrims travelled from all over Europe to pray there. The village held the relics of Saint Amadour (famous hermit who found solitude in Rocamadour) and the well-known sword of Durandal, known for its legend. It was also the revered shrine of the Black Madonna.
