Sarlat

Capital of the Périgord Noir, this historic site is renowned for its monumental finery dating mainly from the medieval and early Renaissance periods (12th to 16th centuries). Its town centre is made up of a network of picturesque lanes and alleys, shady squares, lined with private mansions with slate roofs. The Place de la Liberté, lined with terraces, is the seat of street entertainment and the market, where the specialties of the region are sold : foie gras, truffles, figs and nuts.
